Is one Pig Counter enough to count the pigs in different areas of the farm?
It depends on whether you want to count pigs at the same time in different locations. If so, you’ll need an additional Pig Counter device, since it can only count pigs from a single camera at a time.
When counting pigs, is it okay for a person to move in front of the camera?
Yes, when counting pigs, a person can move along with the pigs in front of the camera. Pig Counter is designed to detect only the pigs and ignore people.
Is it okay to dress up as a pig during the pig count?
No, unless you want to make a mistake counting the pigs.
If a pig starts backing up in the middle of the hallway, will the system count it twice?
No. The artificial intelligence continuously tracks the path and direction of movement of every animal in the frame. If a pig crosses the counting lines but then changes its mind and backs away, the system will detect this and simply subtract it from the total.
Does the device work at night or in very low light?
For correct and accurate counting of pigs, the system requires good lighting. In the dark or in very dim, low light, accuracy will decrease significantly. Therefore, when counting, turn on the lights in the drive-through corridor or simply install an additional, powerful light bulb above the counting area.
Can Pig Counter work without an Internet connection?
The device can operate without Internet access while connected to a local network (it detects and captures video from the camera) but without a connection to the Fetura CLOUD system. In this case, the device stores the count locally and synchronizes the data the next time it connects to the Fetura CLOUD system.
Is the data from the count saved somewhere, and can I download it later?
Yes. If you connect your device to the Fetura Cloud system, all your data will be saved to the cloud in real time. This gives you constant access to your data from anywhere. You can log in to your account at any time (e.g., from your phone or computer), check the history of previous uploads, and, if necessary, easily download all the collected information for your own records.
Is the counting data saved somewhere, and can I download it later? Can I use the device with other animals?
No, the device is currently designed exclusively for counting pigs.
Our system is based on artificial intelligence that has been “trained” to recognize specific shapes, proportions, and the characteristic way pigs move. If other animals, such as sheep, calves, or poultry, pass in front of the camera, the program may ignore them entirely or count them incorrectly, because their silhouettes do not match the pattern stored in the system’s memory.
Is there a limit to the number of pigs I can count at one time?
There is no limit. The system can operate continuously for many hours. Whether you’re loading 50 fattening pigs into a small truck or selling 1,000 head across several large trucks—the device will keep counting until you stop it yourself.
How do I know when the device is ready to use?
The Pig Counter is ready for use when the camera feed is visible on its screen and the “START” button is green.
Does the system record a video of the alleyway so I can play it back later and count the gears myself?
Yes. The system records video from the alleyway, and the recordings are securely stored in your Fetura Cloud account. This means that once the loading is complete, you can log in to the cloud at any time (e.g., on your computer or phone), play back the video, and verify the counting process yourself at your leisure.
What should you do if the number on the screen seems incorrect?
You must download the recording from the Fetura CLOUD system and count the pigs yourself. If the number does not match, it likely means that the “START” button was clicked prematurely and Pig Counter registered a pig 10 seconds before the counting process began.
Is it possible to pause the count and resume it later?
You can pause the count and then restart it. However, keep in mind that each restart is recorded as a separate, new count—the previous result is not carried over.
Before starting a new count, wait at least 10 seconds after the last pig has passed the center of the camera’s field of view. Starting the next count too soon may result in pigs from the previous group being counted again and may affect the accuracy of the result.
Does the system count pigs of all ages (weanlings, finishers, sows)?
Yes, the device can easily count pigs at any stage of fattening, because the program recognizes the animal’s shape itself, rather than its weight or physical size.
